Extra neutral gauge bosons in electron-positron collisions at resonance.
نویسندگان
چکیده
A simple extension of the standard model to an sum x U(l)y x U(1) gauge symmetry is considered. The symmetry is broken by vacuum expectation values of one doublet and one singlet scalar field, resulting in a second massive neutral gauge boson. Electron positron collisions at this 2’ resonance are calculated. Aside from the possibility of 2’ decays into exotic fermions which fill out the irreducible representations of grand unified theories, there generally are important decay modes into W+Wand Z”Ho coming from mixing between the 2’ and the 2 of the standard model, even after imposing the constraints from experiment on the magnitude of the mixing angle. Search for Extra Gauge Bosons in Little Higgs Models at a Linear Collider
A generic feature of little Higgs models is presence of extra neutral gauge bosons. In the littlest Higgs model, the neutral extra gauge boson AH is lightest among the extra particles and could be as light as a few hundred GeV, which may be produced directly at an ee linear collider. We study production and decay of AH at the linear collider and compare them with those of Z bosons in supersymme...
متن کاملWeakly coupled neutral gauge bosons at future linear colliders
A weakly coupled new neutral gauge boson forms a narrow resonance that is hard to discover directly in ee collisions. However, if the gauge boson mass is below the center-of-mass energy, it can be produced through processes where the effective energy is reduced due to initial-state radiation and beamstrahlung. It is shown that at a high-luminosity linear collider, such a gauge boson can be sear...
متن کاملAspects of the Stueckelberg Extension
A detailed analysis of a Stueckelberg extension of the electro-weak gauge group with an extra abelian U(1)X factor is presented for the Standard Model as well as for the MSSM. The extra gauge boson gets massive through a Stueckelberg type coupling to a pseudo-scalar, instead of a Higgs effect. This new massive neutral gauge boson Z has vector and axial vector couplings uniquely different from t...
متن کاملThe Structure of the Photon
The photon is one of the fundamental gauge bosons of the Standard Model without selfcouplings and without intrinsic structure. However, at high energies photon-hadron and photon-photon interactions are dominated by quantum fluctuations of the photons into fermion-antifermion pairs and into vector mesons which have the same spin-parity (JPC = 1) as the photon. This is called photon structure. El...
متن کاملHow to Study Weakly Coupled Neutral Vector Bosons
A weakly coupled new neutral gauge boson, forming a narrow resonance, can be efficiently produced at ee colliders through radiative return processes if the collider energy is larger than the gauge boson mass. This contribution analyzes the sensitivity of a future linear collider for weakly coupled gauge bosons and briefly discusses how, in case of discovery, its properties can be determined wit...
